Girls Class B Preview

Starting off the day might be the best race of the day! The Class B South holds 1/3 of our ranked squads, including #3 ranked York.  Greely is riding high after knocking off York  for the WMC title last week, but York was without their #3 runner Madelyn Hutchins.  If she's back, expect York to win.

Last year, only 1 point separated first from third, with Cape Elizabeth taking home the trophy on a 6th runner tiebreaker over Lincoln Academy. Cary Drake won the individual title and Hadley Mahoney of Cape Elizabeth was 2nd.  Sadly, Hadley has not been able to compete all season.

Boys Class B Preview

The boys race is also very compelling.  Libby and Laverdiere have been trading wins all season, and both will be gunning for the individual title.  Behind them are a few other runners who could also win if they have their day, especially with the poor conditions expected for Saturday.  On the team side, Freeport looks to be the favorite after winning WMCs last week.  Gray New Gloucester is the real wild card.  They had a great performance last week to beat some very solid teams.  They will look to prove that last week wasn't a fluke.

Girls Class C Preview

Class C South girls is headlined by team favorite Waynflete.  They will be lead by sophomore Grace Alexander who had a great run last week at WMCs and just entered our rankings this week.  The individual  favorite is Soren Stark-Chessa, who won the WMC title last week.

Boys Class C Preview

Chris Pottle has had a fantastic season and is a shoo-in for the individual win.  His team, Winthrop, is expected to win the title as well.  Waynflete will likely be second, led by Pi Crosby.

Girls Class A Preview

The SMAA is full of talent, with 4 of the top 9 individuals and 4 of the top 9 teams.  Samantha Moore is the favorite, but Addy Thibodeau will be looking to defend her title.  One thing to watch is to see if Ava Chadbourne is back.  She is likely to be a top 5 finisher if competing but has missed the Bulldogs last 2 meets due to injury.

Boys Class A Preview

Wrapping up the day might be the best race of the day.  The SMAA boats the top 2 teams and athletes in the state, as well as the #4 ranked team and individual.  Portland is a strong favorite to win and has looked dominant so far this year.  Maddox Jordan is undefeated on the individual side, but the conditions will probably deteriorate throughout the day and as such, things could be a bit more random.
